This is completely bogus and you know it. First grade FUD.

If there are problems with the VIA chipset (haven't we heard that before?) then Tom's Hardware shouldn't have used it - even if it is the fastest. There are plenty of other chipsets that are rock solid. Similarly, you can easily find a combination of things that don't work on a P4 - the point is, as an OEM, you test for these things beforehand so problems don't crop up. Paul's been telling this thread that that's what distinguishes big OEMs from SD shops for years now ;-).

Windsock, we're all intel @ work ( 100's of workstations ) and guess what? They ALL crash occasionaly and we run NT.
