What the article confirmed was that a specific board was unstable if you swap CPUs and you have an old BIOS.

but luckily no major issues that couldn't be fixed with a BIOS update. "

Since an up to date BIOS that fixes the problem is available and since most people (esp. those who care most about stability) don't swap CPUs a lot it doesn't seem to be that big of issue. And this is for a new board on a relatively new chipset, and possibly a pre production sample sent to a reviewer. Box makers would have easy access to an up to date BIOS, so if you buy a pre built system, then you should have no problem. If you like building your own, then you should know enough to get updated drivers and an up to date BIOS.
