Combjelly Re..They had to know that the motherboard manufacturers would want to use that chip, AMD does claim that they work with their customers.<<<<<<< From what I have seen, AMD does encourage anyone and everyone to manufacture for their products by giving free licensing to the AMDS bus; which Intel not only charges for, but uses to control their competition. When we are talking about stability, Intel licensed Ali and SiS to make chipsets for the P4, but when have either of these two been renown for their stability. In fact lately, they have been renown for making mediocre chipsets. Why chose these two, if Intel is looking for speed and stability? Probably because Intel is looking for average chipset makers so Intel can say they licensed the man. to third parties, but Intel wouldn't have to worry about a company like Via, or Nvidia showing them up. But here we have it again, SiS beat Intels DDR chipset to market.

combjelly,

A better example of AMD spin was when the 760 northbridge wouldn't work with the VIA southbridge.

760 works fine with VIA southbridge. It is 760 MP that doesn't work with VIA southbridge.
