Re: DDR runs out of steam

The data available to date is that DDR has gone from PC1600 to PC2700 more quickly than RDRAM has gone from PC800 to PC1066.

Add that to Intel, SiS, etc. dropping formerly planned RDRAM chipsets from their roadmaps and RDRAM performance is looking like a moot issue - whether it gets faster or not, there are no future PCs that will be using it.

RE:"I'm afraid you don't understand Rambus as much as you should. RDRAM will become increasingly important as Intel continues to raise the speeds of their processors and DDR runs out of steam and faces the same fate as SDRAM. Rambus collects royalties on many of the DDRs produced. Intel recently entered into an five year agreement on technology sharing with Rambus and finally Rambus technolgy is expanding into many more product areas than just memory support for microprocessors."

I'm afraid you're on the wrong thread. You should post this on the Rambus thread where there are still a few who love the company and watched their RAMBUS stock go from 140 to 7.

BTW, Rambus lost it's DDR royalty case to Infineon. More likely a moot point anyway...Rambus is a fraudulent company no one trusts. X-box will take care of Playstation and who says PS3 will even use Rambus...
