Let's see? People are unemployed. Companies get tax breaks. Companies now have more money to expand their business. To expand their business, they need to hire people. So, unemployed people get jobs. What is it you don't understand about that?
flappy, I'm still waiting for your definition of liberal. Is there the word stupid in there somewhere?

Good, finally I'll be able to hire some qualified people. Slim pickens out there the last couple years.

<< The Republicans' plan to jump-start the economy is to give $1.4 billion (with a B) in tax
breaks to IBM while, at the same time, urinating on the 415,000 people who, through
no fault of their own, are now in the unemployment line. >>

Get real. If this rant is the extent of your economic knowledge you had better give up.
Understand this Companies do not pay taxes. The "company" is not some hidden monolithic entity
that hides a tax reduction under the "company" mattress You and I pay the tax in increased costs for
the services or products. Union workers pay the tax in reduced employment, pay and benefits. Investors pay the tax in reduced return on their investment. Every dime the "company" pays in taxes is loss to the worker, investor and consumer The company the union worker is employed by loses income by reduced ability to perform R & D
to produce a better product and remain competitive and to purchase products from other "companies" that employ union workers. Ask IBM employees, or any "company" employee, their opinion of "company" tax break.

Rant on.

Ken

Flappy, your "perpetuation of a myth" theory is a myth itself. The country was in an acknowledged economic slowdown well prior to Bush even taking office..... Your post is just another petty, partisan, whining demolib smear.

How is the GOP urinating on anyone?

through no fault of their own

There it is, the battle cry of the downtrodden masses.

Thanks for reminding me. If I do well, then I should get a raise; if things go wrong, it is through no fault of my own.

Got it.

"One of the myths perpetuated by the GOP is that all these job losses are the result of 9-11. Wrong"

It is true that not all of the job losses are the result of 9-11, but I am not sure that the GOP is claiming that they are. In fact my recollection is that Bush was roundly criticized by many for letting us know some time ago that the economy was in trouble. Wasn't this part of his rationale for the tax cuts?
