Esteban,

Win XP Home edition comes with a very rudimentary firewall IMHO and when it runs you cannot see or access your network. I am using a Netgear router with a cable modem. Finally got the da*n network to work ok (with the firewall turned off), after much playing around and not a little swearing. I am very happy with XP so far though.

The XP firewall was hacked the first 3 hours it ran. I found a "setup for IE3" on my desktop. Fortunately it was a "friendly" hacker! Sure made me believe the reports that I had read, pointing out it's short comings.

I am considering the Norton 2002 firewall for XP partially because there is a $20.00 rebate if you use any other Norton products. Yep, I am cheap! Don't want to get into configuration problems that are way over my head though. In my experience their tech support leaves much to be desired.<gg>
