I think it would be a grand PR ploy could we find a way as a nation to could come together & send big tubs of lard to our fighting troops! Why couldn't it be "official"? This is WAR!

Times like this where a Negative is worth more than a Zero.

So i say, let the Error Light of ron-ron Shine unBright.

Let that which takes us backwards,
as we follow ron-ron's forward motion,
help us see that where we once were,
when a Drake'ness called Daffy Duck Ruled
rather than that time when Gold Ruled,
let this show us where we are,
where this GPM thread seems to be,
that place where zero'ness lives as a nothing or less,
where those of a Chatter(s) post Thoughts of unThinking,
let us get that which causes us to say,
"Thanks, i needed that wake-up call."
or
was that a shaving t.v. commercial slap in the face :o)
whatever,
Rules, as i forgot what i was gonna say next.
So, as a back-up... its Gata Bill aTime.
ok, now i remember,
ron-ron's duh'ations about "trust your government a.k.a. money"
Hellooooooooooooo ron-ron,
and no moon'ing around now
as here is fuel for you to use
for you to counter
and tell us why your words are better :o)
oops, or need a 2 week free trial please ron,

Topic du Jour, Greenspan's Fine Mess

"But how do we know... Alan Greenspan, December 5, 1996..."

... [Adam Hamilton aka Zelotes]
am well aware of the great debate currently raging
between the inflation and deflation camps,
and as soon as we have gathered enough information
so I am absolutely sure that I can write a good essay
that will offend [:o)] both factions,
I will hammer out a Zeal essay on inflation versus deflation.

For now, however, here are some brief incendiary thoughts.....

First, money supply growth.....

Every analysis of inflation versus deflation MUST be extremely careful to examine
the aggregate money supply growth in light of aggregate goods and services growth,
not only a few commodities in isolation where supply and demand fundamentals
have pushed prices awry.

Second, with the growing popularity of.....

Third, in our society today that has been relentlessly duped
by the bankers into falsely believing that debt is a Good Thing,
credit has all but replaced money in some markets, such as.....

... [for the] perma-bulls today who believe that manipulating markets,
declaring war on the savers,
and flooding the economy with unbacked fiat funny money
... we sure marvel at their misplaced faith in their demigod Greenspan!
... are hoping against hope that Greenspan will prove to be
the first exception in history to the iron-clad dark consequences
of... which Alan Greenspan is desperately dragging our great nation.

Now it is your cause, Hawkmoon. Search and find the enemies.
Let them bleed, and destroy them, wherever they may appear.
Take revenge! For your father, his folk and the rest of universe!"

Koreas Exchange Fire at Border
By JAE-SUK YOO, Associated Press Writer

SEOUL, South Korea (news - web sites) (AP) - U.N. officials were investigating a brief exchange of gunfire across the heavily armed border between North and South Korea on Tuesday.

The South Korean military said there were no reports of injuries during the shooting, which came during an impasse in inter-Korean reconciliation efforts. It said the North fired first, but added the gunfire appeared to be accidental.

South Korea's office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that the shooting occurred Tuesday morning on the western sector of the border near Paju, 25 miles northeast of Seoul.

The statement said two or three shots were fired from a North Korean guard post inside the 2.5 mile-wide Demilitarized Zone.

A shot from the North broke a window at a South Korean guard post, and another hit a wire fence, but there were no South Korean soldiers injured, it said.

South Korean guards broadcast warnings and fired back about 15 rounds, but there also were no reports of injuries on the North Korean side, South Korean officials said.

Noting that the North Korean fire did not last, the South Korean military said it did not appear to be an intentional attack.

The Koreas share the world's most heavily fortified border, with nearly 2 million troops deployed on both sides. About 37,000 U.S. troops are stationed in South Korea.

In the past week, North Korea (news - web sites) charged that South Korea's military brought a howitzer and two armored tanks into the DMZ. The 1953 Korean armistice agreement allows only rifles and other small arms inside the buffer zone.

Reconciliation talks between the two Koreas have slowed this year amid tension between the United States and North Korea.

The Koreas have also been at odds over South Korea's anti-terrorism measures taken after the Sept. 11 attacks in the United States. Those measures put the entire South Korean military and police forces on alert.

South Korea said its anti-terrorism measures are unrelated to North Korea. Pyongyang accused South Korea of lying.

Also Tuesday, the American-led United Nations (news - web sites) Command confirmed that North Korea is asking Australia, New Zealand and some other allies of South Korea to withdraw from the U.N. Military Armistice Commission, a watchdog group that oversees the Korean cease-fire agreement.

North Korea has been trying to nullify the watchdog committee for years as a way of pressuring the United States to sign a peace treaty with it. The United States fought on the South's side during the 1950-53 Korean War, but says the treaty should be between North and South Korea themselves.
