Hi polvie,

Scott asked me to pass this along.............

thanks for speaking up....a message from Stockman_Scott...

<<...Perhaps many normal Americans now feel that it is time for normal Arab-Muslim-Americans to stand up & be counted as Americans who are willing to take steps to defend this country by taking certain affirmative actions to help us preserve our freedoms, our safety & our way of life...>>

Tim: Thanks for speaking up...I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THAT
PERSPECTIVE...Tell Polvie that I unconditionally accept others but I felt that editorial letter that someone else posted might stimulate an interesting discussion...........

<<<edit - not sure if he wanted the whole e-mail posted - Scott can post his thoughts later if he did :-\ . . . >>>

Regards,

-Scott

hi polvie

there are a lot of snakes where i live. good (non-poisonous) and bad (poisonous) ones. when i see one in the yard i usually have an over-riding fear envelope me and my instinct tells me to be cautious of danger. i have no problem killing the copperheads to provide a safe secure yard for my kids. although occasionally i see a hog-nosed snake rear up fan out like a cobra and hiss at me, without fail fear fills me and then upon closer inspection i realize that it is a harmless snake and let it go on. the fear i feel is not right or wrong, it is real. i think the author of the letter was communicating the same thing. when we equate the snake with danger we feel fear at all encounters with snakes, until we are further educated, as too which are dangerous and which aren't. many of us are way too busy to study up on the subject. until americans take the time to learn the differences in a muslim and a sikh, for example, there will be people like the author of that letter. the good thing is, that talking about it has brought out a lot of discussion that has enlighten us and reduced the fear for both sides of the issue.

once bitten twice shy, she

Polvie, always good to have your counterbalance to some ideas and actions on here my Friend.

Your wit and easy-going approach is nice.

While I agree with ole wstera_02 on his recent exchange, it's good to have you looking over our shoulders. Different folks with different views helped make America the greatest nation on Earth.
