Well, the simple, idiot-proof method (the kind I like to use), would be to start selling at 1850, and scale out gradually, planning on being fully "light" by 2300. Set the appropriate limit orders, and quit watching.

It is a mathematical impossibility for more than a small fraction of investors to get out at the top. I vaguely recall a quote, I think from one of the 19th Century Robber Barons, who said the secret of his success was that he always sold early.
