Re USS Churchill: Memory slightly fuzzy but wasn't it you who was curious about the validity of the story of the encounter between the USS Churchill and the German Destroyer FGS Lutjens?

Finally got a response to an email, posted here:

To All,
A great deal of interest has been created about the validity of the event
that occurred between the American destroyer USS Winston S. Churchill and
the German destroyer FGS Lutjens. It was indeed true and we've posted
Ensign Megan's letter and images of the event on our website (the link is
below). We are honestly all surprised how many people have accidentally
come across it only to embrace a rare, inspirational moment at sea during a
difficult, emotional time.
You are all welcome to publish or post the letter in its original form from
the website. If you are looking for higher resolution images, please
contact the Navy Visual News Service (cc'd above) and if you have any
further questions, please contact LTJG Benson aboard Churchill (also cc'd).
Hope this helps and we thank you for your interest and support!

Sincerely, K.C. Marshall

Edit: server seems to be down but I got a second email with a couple of pictures attached of the crew of the Lutjens and their sign that read: We Stand By You.
