MeD-- <<"There is less analysis, Less thought put into reportage, and less ethical/moral basis put into the effort. The concept is, if we can report it...report it fast, sensational and make it as large as possible. No consideration of
the hurt, or possible error, that can occur. Remember in "All the President's Men" when they had to get 2 corroborating sources to go with a story? Nobody does that anymore. ">> All one has to do is watch cnn for more than 6 seconds,,, LOL! There are NO reporters any more-- just pretty faces that can read (barely).

We do try to increase "eyeballs" to maximize ad revenue.

The best way to do that is reporting the facts. For example, TV reporting often includes tail end editorial comments on a story. Those comments many be intended as social commentary, but often wittingly or unwittingly serve someone's political agenda. The editorial comments should be separated from the fact reporting. Editorial comments should be brief and balanced with separate pro and con commentators. That way you attract both sides to the program and expand the viewer base.

2 corroborating sources is still a great idea for earth shaking investigative reporting like Watergate.

Enough on this topic. I think the media is rethinking their reporting, but they haven't had enough time to do anything meaningful at this point.
