I gather you just learned about this? For those just tuning in we are writing about female circumsision or mutilation as practiced in sub sahara Africa. I think the question is whether this is a Muslim, therefore religious, practice or a cultural practice of some people of which some happen to be Muslim. I don't know, I can read, but I like to see independant restudy, (it's the scientific method).
