John: If MHz was such an insignificant measure, why did AMD mirror their rating system to MHz type numbers? To intentionally deceive the consumer?

No, to inform the consumers what performance they can expect compared to the old Athlons ;-).

Where is the deceipt? You avoided this fundamental point in my previous post. The customer is being sold a product that will clearly live up to (or beyond) its performance expectations when compared to similar competing parts. That's the bottom line.

Yep. If MHz was such an insignificant measure, why did AMD mirror their rating system to MHz type numbers? To intentionally deceive the consumer?

Well, suppose someone mistakes the model number for Mhz. They divide model number and Mhz (of the pre-model number chip) to get an idea of the relative performance. Do they get the right answer? Yes, because that's how the model number is defined.
