Hi HG CMGI ? yes, I do... not a lot though... someone has to make a call in order to avoid anarchy... and because it is an Islamic teaching that Muslims have to obey the ruler... having said this, there is nothing to stop a Muslim from criticizing the ruler... actually, there are many instances where that happened... as for the rest of your post HG, the first word ever revealed to the Prophet pbuh is "READ" ... so Islam encourages learning... and as a matter of fact, to seek knowledge is a form of Jihad and a duty on all Muslims... having said that, we are all a product of our upbringing... if the parents fail to educate their children, being boys or girls... should Islam be blamed for that ? ... if some Muslim girls ask silly or dumb questions... does that warrant your generalization of Muslims ? the fact of the matter is, the average person, wherever he / she lives, has little knowledge outside the domain of daily life... and when something happens, tries to look for guidance the way he / she can... by the way, can anyone dispute the influence of the media on all of us in America ? has the media always been right ? then why is that...? are we Americans also like a herd of sheep and can not think for ourselves ? if you ask yourself these questions and find an honest answer, you may find that it's just the catalyst is different ... in the Muslim world, it's the religion, and America, it's the media....... SO WHAT HAPPENED to our brains... how come we haven't used them all the time...?! finally HG, one should not paint the whole based on a few… that is why I created this thread to be a resource for those who want to find out… having said this, allow me to be honest with you… you do not come across as someone who wants to find out anything… it seems that your mind is made up… and if that is the case, you may find better company on another thread… regards amein
