Qudratullah also claimed that as many as 800 Taliban troops
defected to the Northern Alliance, including the leaders in charge of the Taliban in that area, ABC News.com reported
Saturday.

I am not sure I would be very comforted by that if I was there.

I am a bit baffled by these defectors. If it is simply a matter of who is going to win, why did they not defect two months ago?
