Tiger,
Another fine diatribe on soaking the rich. They drive heavier cars and so crush the pavement or in the case of a business drive trucks that take an imense toll on the infrastructure.

Based on this philosophy, you must think we should make fat folks pay a lot more as well. They consume more, pollute more and take up a lot more "space" and fresh air.

BTW some rich folks drive some very small (and fast) cars. I suppose you think they should get a tax break for this.

Their house is protected by the same fire department but is much more valuable and probably a more complex structure to protect.

Where do you live? Where I live, the people with more expensive homes DO pay more annual real estate tax and consequently pay more towards the protection of their homes. The ones who drive heavier vehicles use more gas, so again DO pay more taxes for the roads. The annual tax on trucks is MUCH higher than taxes on cars. So, what you want is already happening, be happy! :-)
BTW, I agree that this is what should be happening too.
