Just bought the Nikon 775. I use my USP Sandisk imagemate to transfer to my PC. Use Microsoft Picture It to manipulate photos.

In other words ,I don't use the camera to connect to the PC, is pop out the CF card and transfer that way.

I don't bother trying to connect my camera to PC for the very reason you posted...

It is inconvenient!

I copy all DCIM files to my PC direct from the CF card via ImageMate.

I definitely would not invest in a new software program just for PC connectivity.
