If you think this is not about religion, I think you're mistaken. They have defined it as that, and so we must fight it as that. Terrorism is the road they travel to wage their war. To them it's not terrorism. Say that over and over to yourself. To them it's not terrorism. IMO Bin Laden is like Hitler, (it's just hitler was for nazism, & laden is for islam. the message may be different, but the goal is the same) he like hitler and germany and nazism was able to take over one small country, and now he wants to export his control to the rest of the muslim countries, and eventually the world. IMO The muslims and muslim countries secretly admire bin laden and are looking at him now as their new "savior", and torch that will lead them to the domination that they want. As far as their carrying the torch of cultural advancement?? I don't know. The west got into trouble because of the collapse of the roman empire, which btw probably was a good thing. Had there been no people in the east at all, IMO civilization would have gotten to where it is anyway. The dark ages were coming to an end when they came to an end, because as stupid as it sounds, it was "time" for them to come to an end. IMO they would have come to an end approximately when they did, with or without any outside influences. edit- I forgot to add this. Have you thought about the idea that people were "silent" pre WW2 to what was going on, wasn't so much that they were in fact silent, but because they had the same discussions that people are having now, and there were the same types of people just with different names, that took the positions that people like you take, and positions that people like I take. You are moderate, I am hawkish. These discussion always take place whenever there's a possibilty of a big war, and the same things are always said, and just a little tweak,, it always turns out (or almost always) that the guys that take my position turn out in the long run to be the ones that everyone should have lisened to. Maybe not word for word, but in general.
