<The net is well known for making people blunter and nastier> Ah, I suppose people can get what they want from the Internet. I find the reverse to be the case, most the time, but it requires filtering. Even the most pure, delicious, pristine Sierra Nevada waters contain giardia. I've gotten nicer and more receptive to my fellow man as a result. This is a virtual world that knows no real barriers and you get to set the rules for yourself. That's the cool thing about it -- you can make this world what you want. I'd be reluctant to unload too heavily on some people because I think a lot of fragile people live here - that's why they are so hostile. I've developed my typing and debate skills here because typically you can sort for the people you want to talk to. I find I can write memos and reports faster now. I think that is in no small part to my time on the 'net.
