Dear Michael Islam does not support nor encourage the killing of anyone without a just reason... in fact, Islam says that if you kill one person without a just reason, it's as if you have killed all mankind... furthermore, the Prophet pbuh forbade the mere cutting of trees in a battle mind you killing innocent people... please check out the "jihad" link in the original post if by Islamic religious leaders you mean heads of state and known religious figures, I think that they have already done that... may be they did not come together, but all have denounced terrorism and said that it was an un-Islamic act and that it is damaging to Islam. regards amein
