The FBI still favours the theory that domestic extremists, rather than Osama Bin Laden's Al-Qaeda body, are responsible for the anthrax-laced letters in America, but just how little the authorities know about the source of the terror was confirmed by Robert Mueller, its director, who appealed last week for the public to "join us in trying to bring leads to the front to help us solve both the anthrax and the September 11 investigation".
