I can tell you what "fair share" does NOT mean. "Fair share" does not mean that I pay taxes at a 28 percent rate and GE pays taxes at a 9 percent rate while continuing to lay off thousands of people in my part of the country. "Fair share" does NOT mean that I pay taxes at a 28 percent rate and Motorola pays no taxes for a given fiscal year. I'm tired of the Republicans giving all these big breaks to Big Business (top 1000 or 1500 or 2000 companies in the country ... you pick the number) while they're moving jobs overseas ... and while average CEO compensation has risen more than 500 percent during the decade of the '90s. This ain't jingoistic. It's accurate reporting of what's actually happening.
