Elmer, Not at all, it was faked, since CPUs fail a lot more passively than that.

Bill, the system was powered on without a fan and it burst into flames. The flames were real. The smoke was real and the destroyed Athlon was a real x-cpu. You can repeat that experiment as many times as you like and you will get the same flames, smoke and destroyed Athlon. Just because you don't like it doesn't make it fake. It is repeatable and deterministic. That makes it real.
