As for the pace of the war, our society is so
attuned to the 10 second sound byte and instant
gratification, that there was always the prospect
of defeatist rhetoric if the whole thing
wasn't over and the villians crushed within 10
days.

I am convinced that the vast majority of the US citizens are not worried about the pace of the war, it is only the newsmedia that is worried because they don't have more "bleed to lead" stories.
