BirdDog, How conservative of you to bring Bill Clinton into the fray. The girly PMS thing too, must be mighty lonely out with the antelopes. How does this help?
How about using some of that mean rich white guy political power to solve our nations problems, instead of splitting us into factions. Is this the FADG or the W thread?
The Republicans rightfully take credit for wringing the fat out of business. They also are for smaller government. Why are we adding yet another bureaucratic layer in law enforcement? That is what "homeland security advisor" is. This is the wrong way to go IMO. FBI, CIA, ATF, DEA, DOJ, NSA, Immigration, The Treasury dept, State police--- between the turf wars and the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing how can we win this? What critical scrap of intelligence will get lost in the shuffle?
America re-invented itself; squeezing the small farmer out, shipping heavy industry overseas, mothballed the domestic petroleum industry, scrapped the railways. We cut middle management out via mergers and aqquisitions, gutted the healthcare system.
Lean and mean, world class, but not yet complete. the government itself needs pruning. Lets start with law enforcement/intelligence. In this post-WTC world where heroin financed foreign born terrorists operate globally using every imaginable weapon against us, does it really make sense to have a separate drug enforcement agency? How about the ATF? Alcohol, Tobacco and firearms-- is this a tax collection agency or prohibition relic? Money laundering and state lines attract the FBI and G-men (treasury agents), is there any redundancy here? What exactly is the difference between the CIA and the NSA?
Could this alphabet soup be cut to maybe 3 agencies? If all you cut was the redundant management positions, no case falls through the cracks. Where is the downside? Most the rest of us citizens have tasted downsizing, and found it bitter, yet in the long run, healthy. Where are the Republicans, adding a bureaucratic layer to the system?? I wonder what profile this sector's middle and upper management fit, mean old rich white guys? Growing the trough, porkey? Who benefits from the money spent during this operation, defense contractors? What was that profile again? Cynical me.

This is an important time to be keeping our wits about us. Partisan politics will paralyse our nation. I am one of those mean white men, and am working on the old and rich part. Democracy tends to be be ponderous and needs crises like this to evolve. I think "cute" posts like yours only add to the problem, but you do have a constitutionally guaranteed right to make them.
