Hi Gerry, and many thanks for your kind note.

I'm truly no expert on the subject and my little knowledge has been gleaned as an investor and participant on various forums. So, I'm glad if you found my thoughts interesting or of use.

Apropos being a Canadian exporter to the US, well, just make hay while the sun shines, such as it is! Investing or doing business is not about morality. If you can spot an advantage, opportunity or trend which can be rewarding then why not make use of it?! Of course, if it's illegal then that's something else entirely.

I'm a South African and virtually all my investments (which have been made in SA) are in Rand-hedge stocks (eg offshore, gold, mining) because I believe the local currency is on the way to hell. Some may say that's not being patriotic but so what! I'm not responsible for the economic mess besetting the country and I must do whatever I can to protect myself and my assets.

So, if your business is based on a relatively cheap Canadian dollar, that's very good. You would be stupid, with a weak currency, trying to run an importing business! Although I must say, goods from the East are still so damn cheap that you could probably do well at that.

Good luck and keep well
