Hi JD_Canuck; Re instability of AMD vs. Intel processors.

The i850 chipset's been out for almost a year. The Athlon XP has been out for a few weeks. In addition, Intel sells to a different market than AMD, and so there's different expectations of performance and stability.

My AMD workstation doesn't hang, but I didn't specify one that was state of the art. I never buy PCs unless they've been on the market for 6 months.

As far as what this has to do with RDRAM vs. DDR, well, soon enough you'll be able to compare apples to apples because Intel is coming out with their own DDR chipset for the P4. And so the question becomes, will Intel position the DDR P4 for sales to business? If they do, then they'll have to get stability up to a high enough level for that.
