Thanks for the summary. However, the actual premise of the post-- that Tom's hardware might have rigged smoke coming out of the Palomino-- seems a little dubious to me. Tom did give your groupies on the Intel thread a lot of one-liners, but, it seems like getting a little extra publicity and the "objective" title for himself (since he's hacked Intel on its screwups in the past) would not justify a similar fabrication on his part. Who knows though? Athlons run hot, but it seems odd to me that a cpu could manage to spontaneously combust after a second or two without a fan/heatsink.
