Windsock, the benchmark you're citing is strictly a bandwidth benchmark with no real world significance and the P4 will keep winning that one with the RMBS Dual Channel & the 400 Mhz Bus.

Windsock
my home a1.4 performs much faster than my dell workstation at work at fraction of the price and that is the bottom lineBTW would you be so kind as to describe Sandra benchmark <ggggg>

Windsock, that's a stretch. I've never believed in synthetic benchmarks as a test - not with AMD previously winning, and still not with Intel ahead.

Windsock, ROFL

Looking at those Sandra benchmarks from Via that were cited

Do you actually know what Sandra does? The bandwidth benchmarks measure... well... bandwidth. Ok, so that's all clear, but do you know what the CPU benchmark does? It's specifically (completely on purpose, for reasons far beyond my comprehension) designed NOT to benefit from things like pipelining. What it does is spew out one transcendental function after another (e.g. fsin). What this has to do with "performance" is anybody's guess. It is, however, a fairly accurate way of determining clock speed (at least pre-P4 and C3).
