When they first started prepping the public for a long time frame they were using the 50-100 years. I believe that now they aren't using numbers anymore, they probably realized that this wasn't a good idea. Now it's an ambiguous "long time" idea. I know that this isn't a bin laden afgan end of story deal. "doing things right" hasn't really been on the resume the last few conflicts, because of the wishy washy mentality of the people in charge. Not finishing the job has led to problems. And not taking care of the home front is going to lead to future problems. We as citizens can get back to normal life once the internal threat is taken care of, and all that takes is some hardliners to put in the necessary measures.
