Kayaking, hiking, hmmm, seems we have more in common than I originally thought. As for my figuratively throwing the Boxter "turd" in the punch bowl" so to speak, and then standing aside, I can see that I wouldn't dare drive up to a HTP gathering in one--esp. after that porcupine thing--OUCH. OTOH My good ole Cherokee is is a true American and one of few vehicles that might withstand the poison tipped arrows of this board. For being a compact SUV, it's pulled my drift boat, carried rafts (with rowing frames, coolers, dry bags etc.), kayaks, sailboards bikes, and camping stuff to hell and gone (ok so not all at the same time)--with a certain amount of style IMHO. As for more not so complimentary comparisons: Gremlin (again)--Porsche 944, Chevy Nova--BMW 2002. That car was so ugly and BMW hung onto it so long I really thought it would put them out of business. BTW, I thought the Miata was the ultimate cute, little (with the emphasis on little), girlie plaything (you ever see a guy driving one?) until I saw a Z3 locked along side me in a traffic jam with a woman jammed into it. She was pretty large (transvestite maybe?), but those kneecaps stuffed up her nostrils, and her head scrunched down so it wouldn't stretch the ragtop too badly out of shape, were quite the sight to see. Jim PS--In the "Don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up," scheme of things, I still don't believe this rally is anything more than a gasp up to a continuing descending trend line. So what if earnings "bottom" and "can't get any worse." That absolutely does not mean that the they won't stay pretty much where they are for a very long time while the market dithers. The effect of all those laid off still has not totally rippled through the economy IMHO.
