I don't think of cash as an asset I am allocating into. I think of cash as my ammunition to buy stocks with, when the price is right. Which may happen any day. "Asset allocation" implies a LT commitment of assets into different classes. I'm not sure what the future holds, but I'm sure some futures are extremely unlikely (like me holding 40% cash for the next 50 years).
