BellSouth Sees 2002 Revenues Up 5-7 Percent

BellSouth expects the economy to remain soft for the ``next quarter or two'' and sees any economic improvement happening in the second half of 2002. The economy will continue to weigh on sales of basic telephone services as consumers tighten spending and businesses lay off workers and need fewer telephone lines and services, the company said.

Still, BellSouth expects sales of data, domestic and international wireless services, and long-distance services to be less vulnerable to the economy and fuel its growth in 2002.
