Couple more are, and as you point out, Carlin's voice delivery is more than half of it:

Baseball is played on a field. Football is played on a gridiron.

In baseball, you try to go home. In football, you try to get to the end zone.

Forget the context, but football is obviously the rough sport because it has blitzes, red dogs, etc..

The baseball - football bit is one of Carlin's best.
