Mary,

Tell me, what does an offensive linesman have to get out of a 20 lb playbook. Does he push the guy in front of him to the left or to the right? From what they tell me, offensive linesman need to be more "intellectual" than players of some other positions.

That's right, and sometimes, a lineman can even be a "pulling guard", in which case he has to take a step back, run parallel with the line and try to cream somebody. Thinking about it some more, the quarterback needs to know what every player does on every play (less important to know what each lineman is doing vs. his receivers and running backs). So, if half the IQ of the offensive team resides with the QB, that's about what you want. Wait, that can't be. I played in the line!
