Bill,
HI!!

We both agree GTW is dead economically...Obviously, the management did long ago...What has me very excited is the CPQ/HWP "deal"...IMO a shareholder's nightmare...This marriage in quicksand leads one to the conclusion (if ya can trust what they say they are planning to do)that they too will be making an attempt at exiting the PC market in the future...DELL IMO gets a "twofer" with this deal...Couple this with the GTW failures and one could conclude or anticipate that Michael's prediction of "EXITING" the PC business to be just another prediction where he once again was being ultra conservative...He mentioned long ago that "ONE WOULD BE EXITING"...Well, I have no idea why anyone would invest in any of the three above...As we've said many times previous: How can anyone stop DELL? That is the real question for all analysts that still compare one PC maker to the next...But the immediate question I wish to have answered on Nov. 12th will be what the market share during this past quarter was for DELL...Knowing that previously DELL's greatest rate of growth grew immediately following and during the DEC/CPQ acquisition I might actually do some math and see how they have been doing... since this will be the first quarter where this historical factor can be applied...
I recall that in the first quarter's CC DELL announced they were growing at upwards of 10 times the industry rate...During the second quarter call DELL told us they were growing at 7 times...Should be interesting to see how they've been doing recently...Long term DELL sales reps can't wait for this economic slowdown to turn around...

Best, Kemble
