Well, you may convince me that uniforms are a great idea. But if you did, I would take it up with my school board, not my Congress men.

Teachers Union
Your ignorance is showing again. The teacher's union was a supporter of school uniforms since the last thing teachers want to mess with is fashion police and dress code checks. The primary opponents here were the students who didn't like the fashion statement and parents who didn't want to buy another set of clothes.
