Ron: Gore has stayed out of the limelight for the past 11 months, so obviously he's not going to score well in any poll given the red-white-blue Support Bush = Support America = Support Patriotism theme that's playing today. In addition, Congress has passed very little significant legislation this year, so Bush has been given a relatively easy ride in that arena. Bush and the Republicans face more downside risk than upside risk in the coming year, especially if the jobless rate climbs over 6 percent in the next quarter. Bush doesn't bother me nearly as much as some of the legislation that has squeaked through the House by 2-vote and 4-vote margins. I'm still waiting for this administration to focus on the middle class instead of the richest of the rich.
