Mars,

I agree most religious writings tend to preach that woman is subservient to man. The reason is that most religions were created by men.

If a woman had had an opportunity to create a religion, you'd read about the mental superiorities of women. You'd read that most men are idiots and need to be simply tolerated. <vbg>

The main point to keep in mind is that the followers of most religions do not treat woman subservient to man. Majority of Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs etc are mature enough to figure this religious anomality and bypass the edict to suit the life today.

To compare teachings of Bible & Veda's with those of Quran is thus not a correct measure of the religions ludicracity. Christianity and Veda's are not followed to the letter, so these are no threats to society. In these religions, nobody has yet issued a fatwa for the death of any religious rebel. Nobody has called for war against the world. Nobody has made a country spend more than 1/2 a trillion on war, money that could be better utilised elsewhere. Nobody except the followers of Islam.

I would say the entire Moslem world and their govts follow Quran to the letter and that is a threat to our society.....

IMHO of course.

Mars,

You said, "* To begin to understand Islam , "one" could begin to start in "one's" own pasture..."

So I guess you think I haven't studied women in Christianity, violence, etc.... Well, I can say with confidence, you are wrong!!! I have been studying various topics about Christianity for over 10 years now, pretty much 5 days a week. And it isn't my profession. It's additional time spent studying, in addition to my normal job of 40 hours a week! And I could assure that the article you posted is extremely wrong. Just look at examples of how true Christian women are treated in the world. That should show you enough to know something doesn't smell "kosher" with this article. Now lets look at Islamic women in radical Islamic governments, namely Afghanistan.

state.gov

I can easily explain to you why this article is inaccurate and out of context. But I won't! Because Christians didn't commit the recent terrorist acts, and Muslims did! That is why Islam is coming under the microscope on this thread named "Understanding Islam".

I invite you, as I did others, if you really want to know about Christianity, and specifically want to go through the topic of women in Christianity, start a thread called "Understanding Christianity" and I will explain everything.

Have you ever noticed when some people are drowning, they want to pull others down with them? It seems to be such a horrible human response....

God Bless,
IGIT
