PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The leading industry and academic researchers of G-Protein Coupled Receptors will convene to discuss the latest research advances at the discovery, pre-clinical, and clinical stages at a new event entitled, ``G-Protein Coupled Receptors in Drug Discovery & Development,'' to take place in Philadelphia, PA on March 18-19, 2002, announces Strategic Research Institute.
The meeting is divided into research & discovery, pre-clinical development, and updates on compounds currently in the clinic.
Highlights of the meeting include, ``Solving the Missing Link Between Structure & Function,'' by Novasite Pharmaceuticals, ``Modeling of G-Protein Coupled Receptor Drug Targets Using Rhodopsin Crystal Structure'' by Roche Bioscience, and ``Targeting the MCH-1 Receptor'' by Synaptic Pharmaceuticals.
The keynote presentation, entitled, ``The G-Protein Coupled Receptor Superfamily: Lessons from the Studies on Rhodopsin'' will be given by Dr. Krzysztof Palczewski of the University of Washington.
Other presentations on behalf of the industry will be given by Wyeth-Ayerst Research, Merck Research Labs, Schering-Plough Research Institute, Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Roche Bioscience, Synaptic Pharmaceuticals, Neurocrince Biosciences, Arena Pharmaceuticals, Novasite Pharmaceuticals, CuraGen, Genaissance Pharmaceuticals, Pharmacoepia, and Ceretek. The University of Washington, New York University School of Medicine, Rockefeller University, Brandeis University, and Rockefeller University will represent academia.
