The contract is valued at Cdn$66 million (46 million Euro). The delivery of the vehicles is scheduled between the end of 2003 and the end of 2005. Bombardier Transportation in Bautzen will be responsible for the development and production of the vehicles as well as for the system integration. Bombardier Transportation in Mannheim will supply the electrical equipment. President of Light Rail Vehicles, Europe, Bombardier Transportation, Hubert C. Dlaska, commented: "We are pleased that we could find an ideal solution for the transport authorities of Halle who were looking for more, but smaller vehicles to enable efficient transport solutions with shorter frequencies. The same strategy was also pursued by the city of Dessau, Germany where we are delivering vehicles of the same family." The bi-directional vehicles have a length of 20.5 and a width of 2.3 meters, offering a total capacity for 65 seated passengers and 52 standees.
