GV, >A few years ago, toward the end of his career, John Kruk was having a smoke and a beer in a local bar. He had finished a game earlier that evening. A woman recognized him and lambasted him for his very nonathletic habits, in midseason at that. Kruk replied, "Lady, I'm not an athlete, I'm a ballplayer."

And the one Kruk most closely resembles by that description, and in the waistline as I recall, is the immortal Babe.

But, hey, baseball, football and basketball (hockey for those that like it) all have their reasons to enjoy them, to me, and their seasons as well.

Given that we have diametric opinions on Ray Lewis' athletic ability, I'm just going to have to agree to disagree. >>>

OK, my last thought on this one.

If you find 100 people same age, weight and size of Ray Lewis and get them in shape to bench press a few hundred pounds and run the 40 in 4 or 5 secs, you have yourself a few NFL football players.

You get 10,000 people with the same characteristics of John Kruks and get them in shape, you are unlikely to get one major league baseball player.

Okay, I agree to disagree.
