Michael,
I got a secret indicator: --- When this AMAT thread is busy with all kinds of posts AMAT related or not, the stock and other Tech stocks are languishing at the Bottom. Maybe Investors, to forget how "poorer" they become, are whiling away their time discussing other things. When AMAT and other stocks start going Up, the Posts slow down. Investors get busy buying and selling while they again become "richer" and thus have less time to Post. During the last Bull Market when AMAT reached 100, I also Posted just a few while watching AMAT climb some more to 230 (115 post-split).

What I'm saying is that the "pooper" we feel, the more Quarrelsome we become.

The way to revive this thread is to continue to post intelligent, even occasionally off topic but intelligent discussions here. Sooner or later it will become the dominant thread again.

Mike, FWIW and only because you asked...

It's my opinion that the volume of recent off topic posts just prior to the new threads being created was getting out of hand. I believe that some level of OT discussion will always occur, is desirable, adds to the enjoyment of the thread and helps folks to understand a little more about the individuals who post here. When OT talk became the dominant theme of the thread, I frankly became annoyed. If I could choose, I would be in favor of one AMAT stock thread with a reasonable percentage of OT posts (identified as such with "OT" in the header), similar to what this thread was like earlier this year.
