RNC calls for boycott of LA Times:

Cartoon Links GOP to Taliban, Prompts Call for Newspaper Boycott

(CNSNews.com) - The Republican National Committee (RNC) is demanding an apology from the Los Angeles Times, and urging Republicans to boycott the newspaper. This follows a recent political cartoon in the newspaper that depicted an elephant, the symbol of the GOP, dressed like a member of the Taliban holding a smoking rifle.

"We're asking for an apology from the Los Angeles Times," RNC spokesman Trent Duffy said.

The RNC believes the newspaper's decision to run the cartoon is "inexcusable."

"It portrays Republicans as terrorists, and it's absolutely appalling, and needs to be changed," Duffy said.

"Editorial cartoonists pretty much have wide latitude, but the decision to put it in the paper almost two months after the attack, and while we are at war is just disgusting," Duffy added.
