great HewlyPack news of board plan to reject Compaq merger

terrible merger
different cultures, different regional power, big overlap of products

I hated it then, and hate it now
my tiny Digital pension is still locked up in Houston
under Compaq guise

this whole merger smelled like a huge white flag
surrender to Dell as the lowcost producer
maybe Compaq should split its company up
Pentium servers, storage, and abandon PC's

glad to see market reaction atop Fed news
Fed is fast running out of ammo
the sad path of Japan is being followed
rates can still go lower

S&P: "..greatest market risk is that the Fed will be done easing after the Nov. 6 move"

Pressure is on Congress to come up with a stimulus package by the end of November.

We may be getting a hint that a few companies are starting to see the bottom here. May be getting more good forward guidance by December.

If the market keeps going up by December.

We may not need another cut in December. We may not care by then? The short term future may be looking real good by then. I'm sure, if need be, Greenie will cut again. This one looked like more of a psychological cut than anything...lets face it...many are saying they expect turn around by mid next year...this cut didn't cause them to see that before it happened.
