You're absolutely right, if you consider fabs that used to produce 0.35u Pentium II CPUs to be "spare CPU capacity."

Intel's spare CPU capacity was not used for flash.

In case you didn't know , logic and flash processes are quite a bit different - and generally require dedicated fabs.

Now - maybe you have another excuse for AMD slipping in flash memory?
