Precisely. The Q is no longer a growth stock, though it could regain its status in the second half of '02. Then, if it performs, a lofty P/E ratio would be deserved. Given its performance lately, it deservers a P/E of about 20-25.

We're going to get hammered in the next few weeks.

AB - Strangely I'm much more optimisitic overall. I think we are in for a big rebound beginning late this year and taking hold visibly in 1H 02.

Thats why today is so sad. Q was more than an investment since we all want and love the technology. We are wating for it. It seems that what has been announced just couldn't have happened. It couldn't be. All the great announcements and things just getting going.

It is a big shock. LIke a few years ago when we got a shock with something woring with the Korean sales. Also a big shock. I thought we were over that. Yes there is a recession but we were supposed to be seing huge growth in the narrow market of cdma1x. And NOK and W-CDMA in Japan. Yes where are the royalties from all the DoCoMo W-CDMA phones that are no longer being used as tests?

Still QCOM has performed relatively fantastically compared with most other tech companies. They have $2.6bn in cash and they haven't laid off one worker and they have grown.

I think they could have handled this better. MM was 100% right as usual when he just posted that they should have warned along with everyone else on 10-11.

The other thing that worries me is that this est of $1.10 to $1.20 for 02 seems to have put the lid on things. OK is to lower expectations and then beat them? I hope so but the stock cannot hang on to a P/E of 41 to 45 on next years earnings. How can it?

OK its not much of a miss but th top line looks feeble too.

And what great news is there from the CC. Did they hold any bullets back to balance the bad news?

Usually IJ has soemthing great to say that he has held back for the CC. Has anyone heard anything? Nothing on any of the boards.

Oh dear!

Best,

L
