the real issue about investing in these trusts is what will the average price that they get over the long run

---------- Then look to the long term data. With the longest running trusts (approaching 20 years) ( ERF.UN and PGF.UN ). They have in each and every year returned income to their unitholders. Most or a good part of that tax exempt. And that was the case when prices for oil was in the $10 area. And natural gas at the $1 area. Not one year have they or will they ever sell at below their costs of production. They have been around for that long and plan to be around for a lot longer. Those are the facts about the long term investing in these trusts. And as a special bonus with the cyclical nature of the pricing of the commodities one can be assure that prices will go from lower to higher. Because that is what they have done over and over and over again.
