And I believe that bubbles are inevitable. What changes is the time between them. Once we have gone long enough that the memory of the last bursting is distant enough, the groundwork has been laid. Avoiding bubbles goes deep to the heart of what we are. It is beyond a man.

To think that we can avoid them by the Fed pulling levers is nearly the same as thinking we can avoid the bursting by the manipulation of some other set of levers.
