Wireless Broadband Access Network to be Introduced to China
Wednesday November 7, 12:07 PM

BEIJING, Nov 7 Asia Pulse - The American CI Wave, Inc. and Chinese Taiji Computer Co., Ltd. signed here on November 6 an agreement on introducing a wireless data transmission technology into China and deploying a national network based on the technology.

The technology, known as "broadband fixed wireless access" (BFWA), is able to deliver high-speed, high-capacity data transmission services in a wireless way, while the traditional transmission relies on copper lines between long-distance fiber optical cable and customers.

According to CI Wave sources, a BFWA network in a city could save cost by 95 per cent as it saves the trouble of laying underground copper cables. Two to four BFWA base stations are able to cover a city as big as Beijing, the sources explained.

Under the agreement, CI Wave is responsible to provide the technology and equipment, while the Chinese company assembles and manufactures these systems according to Chinese standards.
